Our iodized salt manufacturing process
The manufacture of iodized salt begins long before the iodine is added. It starts with the base salt – and at Super Salts, the base is right. We harvest solar-evaporated salt from over 5,000 acres of natural salt pans in Gujarat, where climatic conditions produce clean, high-purity sodium chloride with minimal impurities. This clean base is essential to effective iodisation: impurities in the base salt can interfere with iodine stability and uniformity.
From the salt pans, raw salt is transferred to our processing facility in Jambusar, Bharuch, where it undergoes washing, drying and refining before fortification begins. Iodine is introduced at precisely controlled concentrations in compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) standards. Our in-house laboratory monitors iodine uniformity, moisture levels and particle distribution across every production batch, ensuring each bag of iodized salt meets specification before it leaves our facility.
